A fire in a back room of a nail salon in Vancouver’s Grand Central Shopping Center caused smoke damage to three other businesses.

Firefighters were called to 10 Nail Bar, 2510 Columbia House Blvd., at about 10 p.m. Sunday and arrived to find that a fire in the back room of the business had been put out by sprinklers, said Chris Drone, lead deputy for the Vancouver Fire Marshal’s Office.

Investigators narrowed the cause of the fire to either an electrical cause or an appliance failure or overheating, Drone said.

The fire, which was contained to the back room, caused about $10,000 in damage. Smoke, however, spread to three other nearby businesses, causing an estimated $100,000 in damage, Drone said.
