Letter: North Carolina made right decision

Kudos to North Carolina for upholding a law that people are only to use the restroom that corresponds with the gender on their birth certificate. A March 25 story reported “Transgender restrooms law disparaged.” Hopefully, they won’t bow down to the big corporations that threaten to boycott their state. We are supposed to be a democratic society.

According to a Feb. 29 story, “Study finds family support boosts mental health for transgender kids,” only 1 percent of the adult population is transgender. So why do we have to be subjected to being exposed to adult male genitalia in public locker rooms? There have been reported cases of sexual deviants entering women’s locker rooms to gain access to young girls and take pictures of women and girls. This was before Washington state passed the stupid transgender law without the public being allowed to vote on it.

Yes, it is all good and well to say let the transgendered be allowed to use the bathroom that they identify with, but in Washington state, we aren’t allowed to even ask them if they are transgender. If a female doesn’t want to see the male genitals in the locker room, she has to leave. This can be a hardship on rape survivors and little girls.
