Letter: Fulfilling need to be applauded

I recently read about a community collaboration that is to be applauded: the efforts by St. Paul Lutheran Church to turn the church into a temporary overnight women’s shelter. As the Winter Hospitality Overflow program ended March 31, this action to allow four rooms at the church to house three women each with showers and a room to have a place to begin to build themselves up again is so needed.

Then the news about the mental health funding changes from the state for Clark County also was announced. This will create even more needs in our community for volunteers to step up.

Thanks to all of those and to St. Paul Lutheran Church and its congregation for opening their church and to offer just a little bit more love to this group of women. As it’s been said, “The action of a quiet few can have great impact.”
