I read with interest the March 30 letter “Tax burdens property owners,” Dave White’s lecture on how we live in a “capitalist economy” and that we all need to grow up. Does the veteran who now suffers from traumatic brain injury, post-traumatic stress disorder, or any service-related ailment still need to “pull their own weight?” Single moms and children born to bad people are to pull themselves up by their bootstraps? Perhaps.
I’ll assume that White has never filed for a tax return, a reduced rate for school loans, tax breaks for his property improvements and loans, and/or any other break he was given by this capitalist government on the backs of multitudes of minimum-wage workers who could never afford the rent the property owner charges.
