Battle Ground — One of Battle Ground Police Department’s furry finest, K-9 Luca, has received a bullet- and stab-protective vest thanks to a charitable donation from nonprofit organization Vested Interest in K-9s Inc. The vest was sponsored by Amber Will of Vancouver and embroidered with the sentiment “In memory of VPD K-9 Ike.” Vested Interest in K-9s Inc. is a charity operating out of East Taunton, Mass., whose mission is to provide bullet- and stab-protective vests and other assistance to dogs of law enforcement and related agencies throughout the United States. “We are grateful to Ms. Will and to Vested Interest in K-9s for this generous donation,” said Jeff Swanson, Battle Ground city manager. “This custom-made vest will afford him greater protection and security as he serves our community as a member of the Battle Ground Police Department.”
