Letter: Deter from GOP influence

The list of worst American governors has a deep red tinge and Michigan’s Republican Gov. Rick Snyder tops the list. He knew the drinking water of Flint was toxic for a year but did nothing.

Rick Scott was the CEO of Columbia/HCA when this massive hospital chain perpetrated the largest Medicare fraud in the nation’s history. Instead of going to jail, Scott became the Republican governor of Florida.

Republican Jan Brewer, the former governor of Arizona, legalized racial profiling of Latinos. She also said Mexican immigrants were beheading Americans in the Arizona desert. This was a lie.

Gov. Scott Walker appointed his favorite judge, Rebecca Bradley, to the Wisconsin Supreme Court. She’s known for mocking gays who get AIDS.

GOP Gov. Paul LePage of Maine is known for spouting racist nonsense.

Rick Perry, former governor of Texas, said Social Security, Medicare, and clean air laws are unconstitutional. The current governor of Texas, Greg Abbot, thought the U.S. was preparing a military takeover of Texas. Can we trade Texas for Canada?

Republican Bobby Jindal, former governor of Louisiana, and Gov. Sam Brownback of Kansas have both failed as political leaders. Their so-called tax-cutting pro-growth policies have created huge budget deficits while their states lag behind national job-creation rates. Their solution is gutting education funding like a fish.

Will Washington voters add another Republican governor to this list?
