A Vancouver man who possessed more than a thousand images of child pornography on his computer was sentenced Friday to 4 1/2 years in prison.

Elliot Tierney, 27, previously pleaded guilty in Clark County Superior Court to second-degree dealing in depictions of a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct and two counts of first-degree possessing depictions of a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct.

Tierney was arrested May 9, 2014, following an investigation by the Vancouver Police Digital Evidence Cybercrimes Unit. Investigators seized his laptop computer, court records show.

Police learned about Tierney’s online activities from the FBI. A Texas detective identified Tierney’s IP address as participating in peer-to-peer downloads of child pornography, the affidavit said.

On Friday, Judge Gregory Gonzales agreed to follow the attorneys’ previously agreed-upon sentence of 54 months in prison and 36 months of community custody. Tierney was given credit for 43 days in custody. He is not to have contact with minors, must register as a sex offender and cannot possess electronic devices that can access the Internet.
