House Bill 1356 in Washington moves to make employers pay their workers for sick leave — 40 hours of paid sick leave per one year. Paid sick leave is a very important issue.
Every day, Americans decide to go to work to gain money for their families. Those Americans are afraid to lose out on money or lose their job because of being sick, which is a normal part of life. Being sick is not something we can completely control, therefore government should allow sick paid leave to give our body the rest we need without endangering our jobs or money lost. Those going to work are also endangering those who are healthy.
House Bill 1356 ensures that this would not only help sickly employees but give paid time off to those who have been victims of domestic violence attacks, sexual assault and stalking. This will ensure that employees get time off to recoup their emotional and physical well being and to be able to return to work fully dedicated emotionally and physically. Let’s make sure this bill makes it and makes an impact on our daily lives in the work force.
