Letter: Jump Start provides benefits

The July 29 story “Kindergarten Jump Start program offers preparation for school year,” intrigued me. I’m in my high school’s Running Start program and was curious how kindergartners could be in a Jump Start program. It sounds like a great program. It gets kids into the life of a kindergartner before school starts in order to engage them in activities that could be overwhelming at the start of the school year. Kids would be able to attend free classes a few weeks before school starts to prepare them for the school routine.

I asked my mother, who has six children, what she thought about it; she thought it would be great for mothers who work and whose kids need a little jump start. This could also help families of different cultures who need more time to adjust to a kindergartner life.
