Esther Short — The Vancouver and Greater Clark County Rotary clubs joined this month to host 12 members and spouses from the Rotary Club of Puerto Vallarta Sur, Mexico. The Vancouver Rotary Club and Rotary Club Puerto Vallarta Sur are sister clubs. The trip included homestays, dinners, a pub tour on Couve Cycle, tours of Fort Vancouver and the Columbia Gorge and a welcome from the Vancouver City Council. Vancouver and Greater Clark County have both participated in water quality projects for villages in need of clean water in the Puerto Vallarta area. The Rotary Club Puerto Vallarta Sur teamed with the two rotary clubs, along with one from Edmonton, Alberta, in 2011 to bring clean and safe drinking water to seven local rural communities, according to Puerto Vallarta club’s website.
