Letter: Wilson’s ideas jolt women backward

By Janet Smith, Battle Ground

I was appalled when reading the Feb. 3 story “Wilson looks to succeed Benton” about Rep. Lynda Wilson, R-Vancouver, running for Don Benton’s state Senate seat, after reading that,”She recently introduced a measure that would dedicate the sales tax from the purchase of feminine hygiene products to an account to help victims of domestic violence.” Great. Now abuse victims can prepay for the services that might be needed should they ever require them. After all, only women can be victims of domestic violence, so why shouldn’t we make them pay?

Unbelievable. Now Wilson not only wants to blame the victim, she wants to bill them as well.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
