A Vancouver industrial equipment manufacturer with a worldwide focus just got more global.

Columbia Machine Inc. announced Thursday it had acquired the Polish company Techmatik S.A.

“Techmatik has been our strategic partner for almost 10 years,” said Columbia CEO Rick Goode in a press release. “Our companies have collaborated on mold and equipment solutions for a number of customers around the world.”

Columbia Machine and its family of companies make a wide array of equipment for manufacturers, while Techmatik focuses on molds and machines for concrete producers.

“Our companies work very well together. Columbia’s worldwide sales and service channels should help Techmatik continue to grow,” said Techmatik President Dariusz Kupidura in the release. “We are also looking forward to helping Columbia support their existing customers in the European market with local parts, mold and service capabilities.”

Columbia does business in more than 100 countries, with Europe an important part of that.

“The acquisition will improve our ability to reach Europe and its surrounding regions,” Columbia marketing manager Taylor Goode said in an email to The Columbian.”

Techmatik, headquartered in Radom, Poland, will see operations continue as normal, he said. The company employs about 400 people.

Columbia Machine, located at 107 Grand Blvd. in Vancouver, employs 464 people. No changes are expected locally, Taylor Goode said.

The cost of the acquisition was not released.
