A week off was the perfect recipe for the Washougal girls basketball game.

“With all of our school closures, we haven’t been in the gym in seven days,” Washougal coach Brian Oberg said. “But the girls played really well. That really impressed me.”

Alyssa Blankenship nearly missed a triple-double, finishing with 26 points, 13 rebounds, eight steals and three assists as the Panthers beat R.A. Long 77-38 in a 2A Greater St. Helens League game in Longview.

“Alyssa was pretty lights out tonight,” Berg said.

Beyonce Bea added 18 points and eight rebounds, while RaeAnn Allen had 14 points, four assists, two steals and two blocks for the Panthers (8-2, 2-0).
