Clark County children ages 8 to 14 are invited to participate later this month in Plant for the Planet’s Vancouver Academy, where they will plant trees and learn about climate change. Participants will become Climate Justice Ambassadors through the United Nations program.

Children will learn about climate change, its impacts on the planet and how to become community leaders. Their work planting trees will help in a habitat-restoration project.

The event is organized by Columbia Springs, a nonprofit group that offers educational experiences around stewardship and the environment.

The event will be 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Jan. 23 at Columbia Springs, 12208 S.E. Evergreen Highway in Vancouver. More information: columbiasprings.org/events.
