SNOHOMISH — An effort to remove Snohomish Mayor Karen Guzak from office is underway over allegations that she engaged in wrongful conduct.
The Daily Herald report Snohomish truck driver Bill Betten has filed a recall petition against Guzak. It will be reviewed by the county’s prosecuting attorney’s office and could go before a judge.
Betten alleges Guzak violated the state’s open public meetings law by requiring people to sign in and provide their personal information to participate in City Council meetings. It also says Guzak failed to create an open government committee as required by city law, using $10,000 in tax dollars on a “null and void” committee.
Guzak, who has served as mayor for seven years, denies any wrongdoing and says she doesn’t think the allegations will result in a recall.
