Letter: Kim a candidate of substance

By Terry Hashemi, BATTLE GROUND
Published: July 28, 2016, 6:00am

I read with dismay the July 18 letter from Rob Frisina’s campaign manager, Terah Pitchford, “Beware of campaign tactics.” In my opinion, a letter written by an employee, denouncing his opponent, Sam Kim, is unethical, amounting to a free attack ad. I object to her characterization of Kim as “a lifelong Republican in a blue suit.” As a lifelong Democrat, I was unaware we had a litmus test for candidates. If Kim embraces our values, the debate should not be about labels, but about issues and records.

As a 30-plus year resident of Battle Ground, I watched Kim serve our community for 16 years as a member of the school board. I would be proud to have him represent me as state representative. I urge you to ignore rhetoric and vote substance on Aug. 2.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
