EVERETT — Two Snohomish County men have been arrested in connection with the slaying of a man 11 years ago.

The Daily Herald reports that Bunthoeum Nem is suspected of fatally shooting 31-year-old Jesse Williams near Lake Stickney after luring him to a drug deal that was planned as a robbery in 2005. Court documents say Youthy Chim has admitted to being Nem’s driver the day of the killing.

Both Chim and Nem are being investigated for murder.

Nem’s attorney, Natalie Tarantino, argued in court Monday that there was insufficient evidence to hold her client, because investigators relied on stories told by Chim, who she says has lied to police.

A judge determined there was probable cause to keep both defendants in custody and set their bail at $1 million each.
