Letter: Opt for funding affordable housing

I want to see the Vancouver Affordable Housing Fund proposal on the November ballot. The proposed fund is a community solution to a community problem. The affordable housing emergency has forced scores of families from their homes and into the streets. These neighbors are seniors, families with children and veterans.

Many heroic efforts are being made to address the problem. But the time has come for the community as a whole to address the issue together. The fund is the best option for this.

Funds would be used to create affordable housing units, preserve existing housing stock and prevent homelessness. Please contact your Vancouver city councilor and encourage them to put the fund on the November ballot. The need is clear. The time is now.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
