Officials at the Lincoln Park Zoo have announced the name of a baby Bactrian camel, born at the Chicago facility last month: Alexander Camelton.

Lol, no, for real. They named it Alexander Camelton.

You know, after the dude in your history textbooks.

And also the hit Broadway musical.

Do you think this is a delightfully charming and rad choice? Good, because that is the correct opinion. We should all love this.

A dot Cam was born to Nasan, a 7-year-old mom camel, and Scooter, a 6-year-old dad camel, on May 9, zoo officials said in a news release.

At his birth, Camelton was about 4 feet tall, according to the zoo.

“We’re ecstatic to welcome a Bactrian camel calf to the zoo,” Curator Diane Mulkerin said in a statement. “He is still a bit wobbly on his feet but remains quite strong and is ready to begin meeting the rest of the herd.”

Here are some neat facts about Bactrian camels, via the Lincoln Park Zoo:

• They can reach a height of 7 feet.

• Their brown coats are seasonally appropriate — they get thicker in the winter months, and shed during summer.

• They have two humps. Not one.
