Letter: Better conservative pundits to read

By Linda Larsen, Vancouver
Published: June 22, 2016, 6:02am

Thank you, Martha Wiley, for the June 18 letter “Diversity makes us better,” responding to Thomas Sowell’s strange op-ed piece regarding diversity. He appears to be a very cranky reactionary and I wonder why The Columbian continues to use him when there are better conservative columnists who would be an asset to the paper, such as Rich Lowry or Michael Gerson. As a liberal Democrat, I value thoughtful and well-written columns by conservatives that help me think through my own understanding of the issues.

I was going to respond to Sowell’s column, then figured that someone would surely do so, and I was right. So, Martha Wiley, thank you for being that someone.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
