The Max diner staying put

CHICAGO (AP) — The final dinner bell won’t be ringing just yet on a Chicago pop-up diner paying homage to teen sitcom “Saved by the Bell.”

Saved by The Max, which is occupying a vacant restaurant space in the city’s Wicker Park neighborhood, will remain open through the end of the year.

The pop-up was originally only scheduled to operate through the end of August.

But fans of the series can still purchase a $35 dinner ticket to eat in a replica of The Max, the after-school hangout featured on the show.

The meal includes an appetizer, entree and dessert from a menu stuffed with items named after the show’s characters.

Tickets quickly sold out for the initial summer run.

According to the restaurant’s website, dinner reservations are still available from September and on.

The diner will still offer walk-ins for late-night service daily.

On weekends, the eatery will sell brown bag lunches that will be carry-out only and while supplies last. But customers are free to stop and take in the set while getting their orders.

The pop-up’s operators may resume weekend brunch service.
