EVERETT — A 58-year-old man faces charges of attempted rape and assault for an attack on a woman on a Snohomish County beach.

A judge ordered Charles Fisher held on $1 million bail Monday.

Police say the suspect had approached the woman on the beach near Edmonds on Sunday, knocked her to the ground and punched her several times.

The victim reported that the suspect told her he wanted to have sex with her.

Woodway police Chief Doug Hansen says witnesses heard the woman’s screams for help and called 911.

Police used a search dog and arrested the suspect.

The woman was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

Fisher’s attorney argued for a lower bail amount in court Monday, saying his client has a limited criminal history as well as family and a home.
