Letter: Disarm criminals

By Derril Larson, Vancouver

Many of our elected officials have shown their collective contempt for the Constitution and the law of the land allowing us to keep and bear arms.

There is no question that the shootings of late costing many lives are horrible and inexcusable, but let the police and the courts address these issues. Instead of trying to start the process of disarming and making helpless, honest, law-abiding, and hardworking Americans, why don’t these contemptible elected officials go into the slums of their respective cities, disarm the street gangs, the drug cartels, the organized crime syndicates, the terrorists and themselves? By doing these things, America will most likely become safer.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
