Letter: Secure clean water source

By Richard Haas, Battle Ground
Published: March 4, 2016, 6:00am

First, I’m not in favor of the Cowlitz Tribe’s casino. I have completed studies of the impact of tribal casinos on neighboring communities and the impact is not favorable. That all aside, the federal government, through the Bureau of Indian Affairs, granted the Cowlitz the reservation and the casino will be completed.

If Clark County government cannot get their act together soon, it will be only a matter of time before residents are faced with a major problem of where to get their drinking water, as the current aquifer will eventually become polluted with the casino sewage. The aquifer in question is not recycled water used for golf courses, but the main drinking water source for Clark County residents.
