Battle Ground High School put the campus on a modified lockdown around 1:30 p.m. Monday due to a threat written on a bathroom wall, according to Battle Ground Public Schools. The lockdown was lifted at 1:55 p.m., shortly before the end of the school day, the district said.

Such lockdowns are a precautionary measure and control access to and movement within the building, the school district said in a post on Facebook. The building’s exterior doors were locked and students remained in their fifth-period classes until the school got the “all clear” signal. Students were to be released at their normal time.

Students remained in their classes, with the doors locked, and teachers continued teaching, said Sean Chavez, spokesman for Battle Ground Public Schools. After-school activities were not affected, he said.

A student admitted to writing the threat. The identity of the student hasn’t been released, said Chavez.

He added that the threat was not thought to be credible, and the Battle Ground Police Department was investigating.
