The Clark County Sheriff’s Office shared no additional information Monday regarding the death of an alleged knife- and hammer-wielding woman shot by deputies late afternoon Sunday in Five Corners.

At about 4:20 that afternoon, witnesses reported seeing a vehicle driving erratically near Northeast 76th Street and 94th Avenue.

The vehicle veered off the road and crashed in a field, according to the sheriff’s office.

The woman reportedly walked away from the crash and to a home, where she tried forcing her way inside, the sheriff’s office said.

Deputies responded and found her in a backyard, armed with a hammer and knife.

Police said she attacked the deputies, and they opened fire.

The woman’s identity has not been released.

The Vancouver Police Department is investigating the shooting.

Both deputies involved in the shooting have been placed on paid leave during the investigation. Their names have not been released.
