Les Schwab Roundball Shootout set for Sunday at Clark College

Event features top high school senior basketball players in region

Many of the region’s top high school seniors will be participating in the 21st annual Les Schwab Tires Roundball Shootout on Sunday at Clark College.

The Shootout is a celebration of the top high school basketball seniors in Clark County and Woodland.

The event begins at 4 p.m. with the girls game. The boys game follows at 6:15 p.m. At halftime of each game, there will be a 3-point shooting contest, with a slam dunk contest happening between the two contests.

The girls game will include 3A Greater St. Helens League co-player of the year Cherita Daugherty of Prairie and 2A GSHL co-players of the year Alyssa Blankenship of Washougal and Jessica Flanagan of Woodland. Playing in the boys game will be 3A GSHL co-player of the year Andrew Vickers of Columbia River and Trico League player of the year Kienan Walter of King’s Way Christian.

Teams are split into North and South squads.

An MVP will be selected of both games with the winners each receiving $500 scholarships, courtesy of Les Schwab Tires.

Coaching the girls teams will be Chad Meadors, Lower Columbia College coach and Joe Potter, former Ridgefield and Battle Ground coach. Coaching the boys teams will be Jared Valentine, Warner Pacific College coach, and his father Bart Valentine, former Warner Pacific coach.

Tickets are $5, $3 for seniors and $2 for students with ID.
