LONGVIEW — A 55-year-old Longview pedestrian who was hit by a car over the weekend has died in an Oregon hospital.

Michael Cameron died Tuesday night at Legacy Emanuel Medical Center in Portland.

The Daily News of Longview says 42-year-old Daryl Long has been charged with vehicular assault, hit and run and driving with a suspended license. He has been ordered held on $75,000 bail.

Longview police say Cameron was struck near an intersection Sunday night. Witnesses told police he was hit by a red Honda Prelude. Later that night, Kelso police found a car fitting that description. According to court documents, police interviewed Long who reportedly told them he panicked after the collision and drove home.

A message left with Long’s lawyer Wednesday was not immediately returned.
