Volunteer Connections provides opportunities through the Human Services Council.

• Evergreen Habitat for Humanity seeks volunteers to assist the family services manager select partner families for the home ownership program. A marketing and communication intern is also needed to update the agency’s Facebook page, write a monthly newsletter, draft news releases and update the website.

• Gifts for the Community b.Divine Clothing Boutique seeks help in various capacities; volunteers may choose tasks that match their skills, such as providing customer service, helping with donations, or design work.

• Human Services Council is looking for call center phone volunteers to help people with their transportation needs.

• Lifeline Connections seeks help with phones, filing and other office duties.

• nConnect is looking for professionals, retirees and college students from all backgrounds and industries to inspire students for an hour or throughout the school year. Mentors for students in STEM — science, technology, engineering and math — programs are especially needed. Other opportunities include guest speaking, giving company tours, job shadowing or internships, speed networking and project-based mentoring and consulting.

The city of Vancouver seeks to fill a vacancy on the Urban Forestry Commission. People with an interest in urban forestry and the beautification of Vancouver are urged to apply. There is no city residency requirement.

Commissioners serve four-year terms and meet from 6 to 8 p.m. on the third Wednesday of each month.

The Fish & Wildlife Service will provide annual Cathlapotle Plankhouse volunteer training, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge. Volunteers at the Cathlapotle Plankhouse welcome groups of schoolchildren and visitors of all ages, and help them learn about local Native American culture. No experience is necessary; training is provided.

The Fish & Wildlife Service also seeks volunteers for a series of naturalist training events, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on April 8, 15, 22, and 29. Training will introduce participants to the Ridgefield Wildlife Refuge and Steigerwald Lake Refuge, covering their natural and cultural history. Each event will focus on a specific theme; volunteers are encouraged to attend all four. Naturalist volunteers share their interest and passion with thousands of adult and children visitors annually, leading guided walks and greeting people along the trail or in the contact stations.
