What in the world is going on? Clark County government threatening to sue the Cowlitz Tribe to stop the construction of the $510 million casino. There are many tribal casinos all over the state. Get over it.
That’s $510 million being spent in the county. When is the last time that happened? More than 200 people are being paid wages to complete the project. Once open, it will employ more than 1,000 Clark County residents. How many employers of that size do we have?
Stop this nonsense. The fight against the casino is embarrassing.
Clark County officials are becoming political pawns to the La Center card rooms and the casinos in Oregon. The city of Vancouver is also involved in this sham. Last I heard, the casino is not within the city limits. This is absurd. Clark County is not being a moralist against gambling, which they have no business doing; instead, they are being a huge threat to Clark County jobs.
Some will say a casino will add to Interstate 5 Bridge traffic. Well, some of the same people against the casino had their chance to fix that mess and failed miserably. Building another bridge also would have added many local jobs. Our political leaders’ decisions have cost the county millions and millions of job-producing dollars.
Why should we, as taxpayers, be involved in this? As a taxpaying voter in Clark County, I say stop this now.
