Letter: Delay doesn’t serve alleged victims

In June 2015, Matthew Morasch, an Evergreen High School teacher, was arrested on suspicion of voyeurism in the classroom after he was accused of taking images of a young female student under a desk during class. Morasch has continually postponed his trial, now set for July 25, 2016 (13 months since arrest), yet the Evergreen school district continues to pay his entire salary and benefits.

It appears he is hoping the people of Vancouver, and specifically the children he allegedly violated, will have so much time between the incidents and the trial that their memories will fade for testimony. The students of Evergreen High School, especially the alleged victims, deserve better.
