Letter: Don’t apologize for ending war

It’s difficult to imagine President Obama, the “apologizer-in-chief,” not bowing to Japan’s Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and in some direct or indirect way apologizing for the United States dropping the Atomic bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945 that ended the war between the two nations. Obama has a way of stirring up the pot every time he tries to heal old wounds. This “non-apology” trip is sure to stir up more new wounds than heal old wounds.

If Obama truly wants to spotlight the “toll of war” and pay respect to the victims and survivors at Hiroshima, he could make a stop at Iwo Jima and bow his head for the 7,000 Americans killed and 19,000 wounded by the Japanese as a reminder of why we dropped the A-bombs.
