Letter: The Vine is disruptive

By Paul Presler, Vancouver
Published: May 14, 2016, 6:00am

How many of you are having your commute disrupted from downtown to Vancouver Mall due to C-Tran’s The Vine project? Do you find yourself taking side roads just to get to work on time, because sections of roads are closed due to construction?

I feel for the businesses that are losing customers and money from the blockage. C-Tran and the city of Vancouver pushed this project on us against a public vote, and with no care to who it disrupts.

I feel that this transit project will not get the ridership it claims it will get, for the cost of this project, and that the Fourth Plain Boulevard commute will get only worse when these articulated buses start rolling. They will have control of the stoplights as they travel and take up space on the small road. I also feel these buses will be dangerous as the drivers will have a blind spot at the rear of the bus, making it hard to see pedestrians or cars.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
