Vancouver businessman Arch Miller has announced his retirement as chief executive officer and president of the International Air and Hospitality Academy, a trade school he founded in 1979 to train workers for careers in the travel and airline industries.

The school’s board of directors has named Colleen Piller as the academy’s new CEO and president. Piller graduated from the academy in 1987 and worked in the travel industry for several years before returning as an instructor, eventually moving up to vice president and director of marketing.

Miller will continue to serve as chairman of the school’s board of directors.

The Vancouver academy, which draws students from across the country, operates five schools: the Airline/Travel Training Program; the School of Hotel, Restaurant, and Event Management; the Northwest Culinary Institute; the Northwest Renewable Energy Institute; and the Northwest Railroad Institute.
