Letter: Students learn to help environment

It’s great that, here in the Pacific Northwest, we’re given the opportunity to help the environment. Recently schools were asked to collect plastic materials so they could be sent for proper recycling. From the 21 schools that participated, Mill Plain Elementary collected the most plastic. As an alumnus of Mill Plain Elementary, it brings me joy to see students actively participating to improve the environment.

Before I moved to Washington state, I was never really informed what could be done to improve the area I lived in. Teaching children from an early age to actively participate in helping our environment will not only benefit them in the future, but it will also help the community.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
