Letter: Shocking that anyone bought gun

By Ward Upson, Vancouver

I was shocked to learn that George Zimmerman’s gun sold for over a reported $138,000. That’s the weapon he used to kill Trayvon Martin, an unarmed black teenager, in 2014.

In the description in the online auction, Zimmerman called it a “piece of American History.” A history of what? And why would anyone pay so much for that tragic memento?

I shudder with revulsion as I imagine that new owner mounting it on a wall below a picture of its victim.
