After a year of fundraising, construction will begin in June on a new healing garden in the third-floor rooftop plaza of Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center.

Intended to provide stress relief and promote rehabilitation, recovery and restoration, the space will feature specialty gardens, bubbling fountains, a pavilion, nighttime lighting, benches, tables and a labyrinth with a circular path. A groundbreaking ceremony was held May 23.

The $225,000 project, which will be built by Colf Construction, has been funded largely with community donations. Naming opportunities remain available as well as tiles that can be purchased and engraved, according to a press release.

For more information, contact Shirley Gross at 360-487-3457 or skgross@lhs.org. Donations for the Therapeutic Healing Garden may be sent to Salmon Creek Hospital Foundation, P.O. Box 5245, Vancouver, WA 98668 or made online at www.legacyhealth.org/giving.
