Several honored for philanthropy, service

Portland – Clark County was well-represented during an awards luncheon Monday at the Hilton Portland & Executive Tower Hotel put on by the Association of Fundraising Professionals’ Oregon and Southwest Washington chapter.

Vancouver couple Jim and Judith Youde got the Outstanding Philanthropist award, recognizing what they’ve done at Oregon State University, the Oregon Food Bank, Clark County Food Bank and Farmers Ending Hunger.

The Humane Society for Southwest Washington was honored for its outstanding volunteer group. More than 750 volunteers donate more than 100,000 hours each year caring for the animals that come through the shelter.

Union High School’s National Honor Society received the Youth In Philanthropy Award for raising nearly $300,000 for the Holtzman Twins Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center and educating the community about premature birth.
