The mornings after the previous two presidential elections, I was so very proud to be a Washingtonian. We stood for our great African-American president, we supported marriage equality, we voted of behalf of kids — charter schools — and we made it easier to buy pot than at any time since the “Summer of Love.”
Today, I am still proud to be a Washingtonian. We stood for Hillary Clinton and her vision — care, concern, trust and compassion for all. Sadly, others did not. I hope and pray that what we saw last Tuesday is not considered by many to be a referendum on the racism, hatred and anger that came from Donald Trump’s campaign.
I will continue to stand for the hope and vision that has made our country great. I hope and pray that others do, too.
