PORTLAND  — Police investigating a rash of food-cart burglaries in Portland have made an arrest, thanks to the tracking of a cellphone stolen at one of the carts.

Portland police say that on Thursday night, officers responding to a report of a food cart prowler on North Killingsworth Street discovered that several food carts had been broken into.

Police said Monday that cell-tracking tips from the victim led them to Mississippi Gateway Food Carts, where they arrested Charles Johnson, 32. He was jailed on suspicion of criminal mischief while burglary investigations are ongoing.
