Clark volleyball wins NWAC Tournament opener

Penguins next match vs. Walla Walla on Friday

The Clark College volleyball team rallied from behind to beat Skagit Valley 3-2 in the opening round of the NWAC Championship on Thursday at Tacoma.

The Penguins won by scores of 21-25, 25-19, 24-26, 25-16, 15-12.

For Clark, Livia Strandberg had 12 kills, 15 digs and four blocks, Nikayla Doane had 13 kills and four blocks, Melisa Ljuca 10 kills, Allyson Crisp 10 kills and 12 blocks, Courtney Misner 25 digs, Olivia Jacoshenk 27 assists and 12 digs, and Gauleighyan Eastman had 23 assists. The Penguins, the No. 2 seed from the NWAC South, will face Walla Walla at 10 a.m. Friday.

If Clark wins that match, the Penguins would play in the semifinals of the championship bracket at 6:30 p.m. Friday.

If Clark loses to Walla Walla, the Penguins would play a loser-out match at 3 p.m.
