Letter: Trump supporters should protest

By Joel Littauer, VANCOUVER

The wrong people are demonstrating. Those who voted against Donald Trump shouldn’t be marching around holding anti-Trump signs. That’s a waste of time and energy. Trump has been elected president and he will become president, no matter how much sign carrying they do. No, they aren’t the ones who should be out there demonstrating.

Trump’s voters and supporters should be on the streets and bridges demonstrating because he’s not going to keep the promises he made during his campaign. He’s not going to build that big, beautiful wall between us and those Mexican criminals and, I assume, some good people. He might plant a short hedge. He’s not going to deport 11 million illegal aliens. He’s not going to repeal Obamacare on Day 1 or Day 12 or any other day. And he’s not going to lock Clinton up.

On the contrary, he’s saying some pretty nice things about Hillary and Bill Clinton — and about President Obama. He’s not going to do anything he promised his base he’d do; he just used them to get elected.

They should forget about the police state they were looking forward to and put away their brass knuckles, the ones they were polishing to use on liberals, Muslims, Blacks and Jews. They’ve been fooled again. What are they going to do about it? Not a thing.
