The East County Jets are headed to the Pop Warner National Championships.

The Camas-based team of 9-12-year-olds won the regional championship Saturday at Doc Harris Stadium in Camas, beating a team from Reno, Nev.

Now the Jets are headed to the national championships at Disney World in Orlando, Fla. from Dec. 3-10.

The Jets play in the Pee Wee division, in which players ages 9-12 must weigh between 75 and 130 pounds.

The team formed in 2014 under coach Jim Callerame. After going 0-10 their first year, the Jets improved to 7-3 in 2015.

This season, the team began with the bare minimum of 16 players. Two others have since joined the team, which went 10-0 to win the Greater Northwest Conference championship.

The team is seeking donations to help cover their travel expenses and has a gofundme page at https://www.gofundme.com/camas-jets-popwarner-super-bowl. For more information, contact Lauren Clark at 503-784-5629 or lauren.dully@gmail.com.
