Letter: Trump resistance will persist

By Echo Langley, VANCOUVER
Published: November 23, 2016, 6:00am

I am a voice of resistance. I am neither a Democrat nor a Republican and I have all of my adult life voted as an independent. I consider myself representative of the “middle class.”

I did not care for the Democratic politics that cheated Bernie Sanders out of his bid. I did not care for the capitalistic Republican policies that caused the bank failures and the housing market crash and now is putting the fox back into the henhouse; however, it is not the party I loathe, it is the man you chose to lead. My disgust and loathing are visceral. He said he wants to lead all Americans and yet he is denying benefits to all who are not white, protestant Republican voters. The last time I looked, the Declaration of Independence starts with “We the people” not “Me the people.”

Make no mistake — the resistance you are witnessing will not go away; I will not go away. It is the product of gut-level hatred and fear of a man who now has the power to hurt us. There is not a chance he will succeed when 50 percent of his constituents despise him and everything he represents.
