Letter: The birth of the planets

By Don Schmidt, Vancouver
Published: October 1, 2016, 6:00am

I’d like to share my thoughts on the formation of the planets and their association with the star we know as the sun. Where did, and how, our Earth become born?

We are knowledgeable of solar flares. Well, what if creation of the planets was the result of gigantic solar flares from the sun and, with time, the superheated gases cooled, collected and formed planets? What supports this theory is that all of the planets seem to travel on the same plane. Hardly a coincidence, but the result of natural discharging of matter from a spinning object, the sun.

Eons ago, man thought there was a connection between himself and the sun, being god. Or, was it just an attraction to the bright orb, a desire to return to the place of origin, the sun?

The moons of planets, could they be the same story — a discharge of matter from a giant caldera?

A thought and smile for the day.
