Yakima – Yakima police recovered almost $92,000 worth of computer equipment Friday they said a Yakima woman bought using a forged Washington State University purchase order.

University police told Yakima authorities someone was making fraudulent purchases on WSU’s account and having them delivered to a home in the 1100 block of Maclaren Street and that two shipments had been already delivered, according to a probable-cause affidavit filed by Yakima police.

A third shipment, valued at slightly more than $42,000, was not delivered after the FedEx delivery driver suspected the order was not legitimate, the affidavit said.

Officers searched the home and found 52 iPad tablet computers and 33 MacBook Air laptops, which the affidavit said had a total value of $91,813.

The woman was booked into the Yakima County jail Friday on suspicion of first-degree theft and possessing stolen property, and Yakima County Superior Court Judge Richard Bartheld ordered her released as part of the county’s pretrial release program.
