Washougal — The first 1-2-3 Grow and Learn event was Sept. 14; 25 parents and kids went to Hathaway Elementary School to participate in the free play group. The goal of the event is to provide early social and educational experiences that are aligned with state standards through circle time, individual play time and a group activity. “We are hoping to ease the transition to elementary school and give parents an opportunity to see what they can be doing at home to help prepare children for future success,” Hathaway Developmental Preschool Coordinator Leslie DeShazer said in a release from the district. All children are welcome to attend the classes, which are 9 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesdays through June 7 at Hathaway, 630 24th St. No registration is required, and parents and children can drop in weekly or as they are available.
