A Kalama man wanted on a Clark County warrant was arrested Wednesday evening after a standoff with SWAT officers.

The U.S. Marshal’s Pacific Northwest Violent Offender Task force alerted law enforcement officials in Cowlitz County that 25-year-old Vincent Carl Woods was at a residence in the 1500 block of Kalama River Road, according to the Cowlitz County Sheriff’s Office.

Woods was wanted for suspicion of robbery and drug trafficking, crimes that allegedly occurred in Clark County, according to the sheriff’s office.

Officials said that Woods has a violent history and they had information that he was armed, so the Lower Columbia SWAT team assisted in responding to the house, the sheriff’s office said.

Officers contacted several people at the residence and questioned and released them.

Woods refused to respond to voice commands to come out of the residence, so officers used a robot to clear portions of the residence.

Law enforcement then deployed chemical agents in the house, but the subject failed to respond, the sheriff’s office said.

Eventually, SWAT officials forced their way into the residence and located Woods in a bathroom. He was semi-conscious from a suspected drug overdose, the sheriff’s office said. SWAT medics were able to revive him, and Woods was taken to PeaceHealth St. John Medical Center.
