VANCOUVER – The off-leash dog area at Pacific Community Park on Northeast 18th Street between 164th and 172nd Avenue will be closed the weekend of Oct. 22 and 23 so that upgrades can be made to an overhead optical fiber cable, according to a news release.

During the weekend, Wilson Construction Co. will use a helicopter to place a larger cable over the Dakota Memorial Off-Leash Dog Park.

In addition to the closure of the off-leash area, demonstration gardens and the trail along the park’s north side will be closed. The park’s extreme sports area, restrooms and parking lots will remain open.

The work isn’t expected to be delayed by weather unless heavy fog causes the helicopter to be grounded. Another closure of the park is tentatively scheduled for January 2017 to remove existing optical fiber cable.
