Letter: Planning should include parking

By Mary Jo Gilbert, VANCOUVER
Published: October 14, 2016, 6:00am

The Oct. 5 “Woes of parking overflows” story rung a familiar note since we live right next to several new developments with inadequate parking.

Why are these poorly planned developments allowed? Evidently, parking is not part of the planning process. Many agencies sign off on new developments — the police, the fire department, sanitation, transportation, health department, etc. With all the various aspects that are looked at during the planning process, isn’t it odd that the “planning” department doesn’t look into parking?

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
